SOPHIA ROSE SMITH
Sophia is a dancer, performer, and choreographer from Long Beach, California. She recent graduated from The Ohio State University, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with a focus in performance and choreography. Sophia attended the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) in Santa Ana, California as a high school student in the Commercial Dance Conservatory. Throughout high school, Sophia trained at The Movement in Cypress, CA under the direction of Nikole Smith.

During her time at Ohio State, Sophia was one of sixteen dancers selected to travel abroad with the Dance Denmark tour group in Summer 2019, under the direction of Ann Sofie Clemmensen and Professor Daniel Roberts. She choreographed a piece that was performed in Slagelse, Odense, and Aalborg. Additionally, she performed in a work choreographed by Daniel Roberts, and she also taught hip hop to Danish students ages 15-20. As a student in the Department of Dance, Sophia performed works created by Eddie Taketa, Momar Ndiaye, Susan Van Pelt Petry, and Anne Sofie Clemmensen. She also performed in several MFA and BFA thesis projects throughout her four years.

As a dance teacher, Sophia has experience teaching ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, beginning level modern, and beginning level pointe. She has taught at Cutting Edge Dance Studio in Powell, OH and The Movement in Cypress, CA. Sophia is looking forward to sharing her passion of dance with people around the world through teaching and performing, and she is excited for what the future holds with her dance career.
